Who we are
Lumaire ("we", "our", or "us") operates the website lumaire.ai. We are the data controller for personal information processed in connection with the services we provide.
What we collect
When you register for an account or make a purchase, we collect:
- Account information: name, email address, and password (stored securely using bcrypt hashing).
- Payment information: your Stripe customer reference. We do not store credit card numbers — all payment processing is handled by Stripe.
- Course progress: module completion data tied to your account.
- Communication data: any messages you send us via the contact form or email.
- Usage data: pages visited, general browser type, and approximate location (country-level) collected via Umami analytics. This data is anonymized and used only in aggregate.
How we process payments
Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. ("Stripe"), a third-party payment processor. When you make a purchase:
- You enter your payment details directly into Stripe's secure interface — we never see or store your card number.
- Stripe shares a customer and payment intent identifier with us, which we store to associate your purchase with your account.
- Your payment data is subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy and Service Agreement.
- Lumaire does not store full payment card numbers, CVVs, or card expiration dates.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and maintain your account;
- Deliver course content and track your progress;
- Process purchases and send transaction confirmations;
- Respond to your messages and support requests;
- Send service-related emails (e.g., email verification, password reset);
- Analyze site usage to improve our platform (via Umami, anonymized/aggregate only);
- Comply with our legal obligations.
We will never sell your personal information to third parties.
Cookies
We use minimal cookies:
- Session cookies: required for authentication and to maintain your logged-in state. These are deleted when you close your browser.
- Analytics: Umami (our analytics provider) may set cookies to measure website visits. Data is anonymized and not used to track individual users across other sites. You can opt out of Umami tracking by using a browser-based ad blocker or tracker blocker.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Stripe — payment processing
- Umami — website analytics (self-hosted option available)
- Our cloud infrastructure provider (currently Vercel or Oracle Cloud) — for hosting and server operations
Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at hello@lumaire.ai. We will delete or anonymize your data within 30 days of a verified deletion request, except where we are legally required to retain it for tax, accounting, or fraud prevention purposes.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- Correction — request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
- Deletion — request that we delete your personal data;
- Portability — request a machine-readable export of your data;
- Object — object to certain processing activities;
- Restrict — request that we limit how we use your data.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@lumaire.ai with your request. We will respond within 30 days. If you are located in the European Economic Area, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption on all pages, bcrypt hashing for passwords, and access controls on our servers. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.
Children
Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us at hello@lumaire.ai and we will promptly delete it.
